U16
Welcome to the U16 BBRFC Celtic Rugby Team!
Moving from U14 to U16 rugby brings greater physicality, tactical demands, and responsibility:
Physicality & Contact: Stronger players, harder tackles, and fully contested scrums/lineouts.
Tactical Development: Greater emphasis on tactical awareness, decision-making, and multi-layered collective strategies in attack and defence.
Fitness & Conditioning: Increased stamina, strength training, and recovery strategies.
Laws & Structure: U16 follows nearly all adult rugby laws.
Mental & Lifestyle Factors: Players take more responsibility for training, nutrition, and preparation.
Our experienced BBRFC Celtic coaches—Ray, Mike, and Robin—are passionate about developing U16 players and fostering team camaraderie. Whether players aspire to higher levels or simply enjoy the game, we emphasize discipline, respect, and resilience—values that shape both great rugby players and great individuals.
To support our players on and off the field, we provide guidance on nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle choices to help them perform at their best. From meal planning and hydration strategies to recovery techniques and injury prevention, we equip our team with the knowledge to stay healthy, strong, and ready for every challenge.
Throughout the season, we compete in league matches in Belgium and Luxembourg, with some players also representing Rugby Vlaanderen at the regional level. Off the field, we build a strong sense of community among players and family supporters that lasts well beyond the game.
This season, our U16 players and supporters will travel to Champagne, France, for the ‘Les Medi’ovales’ tournament from Friday, May 2nd to Sunday, May 4th, 2025, in Provins. This exciting event will bring together 24 teams and over 700 players from at least seven nations, offering our team a fantastic opportunity to compete, showcase their skills, and create lasting memories on the international stage.
Whether you’re an experienced player or new to the game, come and try rugby—join us and be part of our international team!
