U18
AA Pivotal time in Rugby and Life
The U18 age group represents an exciting and transformative stage in a player’s journey, both on and off the field. It’s the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and growth in rugby, but also a year of transition as our players prepare for life beyond school and for some beyond the home! If you’ve played rugby before or not you are always welcome to join us, to try rugby, it’s never too late!
Balancing Rugby with Life’s Big Decisions
We understand that this stage of life can be especially demanding. Players are balancing final exams, preparing for university applications, exploring future career paths, and visiting colleges or workplaces. Despite these challenges, rugby provides an essential outlet, fostering teamwork, discipline, and resilience—qualities that extend far beyond the pitch.
Building Skills for the Future
On the field, the focus is on honing advanced skills, strengthening fitness, and fostering leadership. Many of our U18s take on mentoring roles in the club, training as coaches and referees to guide younger players and developing confidence in the process. We also encourage our players to support community and rugby programmes at home and abroad supported by BBRFC Celtic. These experiences help them build a solid foundation for both rugby and life.
Staying Connected Beyond U18s
As players approach the end of their time in the youth program, we encourage them to stay connected to the rugby community. Whether that’s through joining the senior mens team, playing at university or an alumni’s club, or supporting the sport in other ways, rugby is a lifelong passion and a source of lifelong friendships.
